The Pagodes de Cos are the second wine of Château Cos d’Estournel, a Bordeaux Deuxième Grand Cru Classé du Médoc in Saint-Estèphe. This winery has been part of the Michel Reybier group since 2000 and has more than 90 hectares of vineyards. They primarily contain the following grape varieties: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The Pagodes de Cos wine is produced with the younger vines.
During a first tasting in August 2010, this 2004 vintage of the Pagodes de Cos looks almost black, offering powerful and fragrant scents of plums and peppers. In the mouth, you can enjoy a dense liquid with aromas of black fruits and dark chocolate hits at the end. Long-lasting finish.
When tasting a second bottle of this Pagodes de Cos 2004 in January 2020, the perfumes are still charming, but they are now clearly dominated by black cherry associated with hints of leather. The mouth offers an elegant density with aromas of black fruit associated to some wood and leather. The finish is still as long.
