Château Peybonhomme-Les-Tours is a Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois winery from the Premieres Côtes de Blaye area. Its organic wines are made with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc et Malbec grapes.
The vineyards of Château Peybonhomme Les Tours are located in the commune of Cars, very close to Blaye. The hillside plots cover 64 hectares and overlook the Gironde river. Château Peybonhomme-Les-Tours was classified in 1868 as “Premier Cru Bourgeois”, but today it is classified in the appellation “Blaye, Côtes de Bordeaux”. This winery has been practicing biodynamics wine-growing since 2000 and is Demeter certified. The organic wine is aged for 8-12 months in a third of new barrels. The Hubert Vignerons winery also operates Château la Grolet.
Wine(s) tasted:
* Château Peybonhomme-Les-Tours 2018 (tasted in January 2021): This vintage is purple wide-body wine. It offers strong perfumes of blackberries, blackcurrants, violets, cherries as well as alcoholic notes. The mouth is ample with a velvety power. There are aromas of cherries and blackberries with jammy sensations. I also found hints of tobacco, green pepper and spices.
* Château Peybonhomme-Les-Tours 2005 (tasted in January 2010): Strong perfumes of black fruit jam (cherries, blackberries). In the mouth the fruits aromas are present with initially still a little woody and spicy flavors which gives it a little “rustic” side. It also has good texture and good length in the mouth. This is a wine which, despite the predominance of Merlot, is more powerful than elegant.
